When something "breaks", System Restore allows you to roll back the clock to a time when everything was working well. To do this, you need to make sure that Windows is taking these snapshots (restore points) on a regular basis.

- Type "create a restore point" into the search bar
- In the system properties window click on your "system" drive to highlight it
- Click on "configure"
- Check "turn on system protection"
- Drag the "max usage" slider so that it is around 5 GB
- Click "apply"
